Our Vision
MAIN helps Mississippians understand, use, and apply artificial intelligence through free AI courses in Mississippi, statewide partnerships, practical AI resources, and coordinated support for education, workforce, government, and industry. MAIN is Mississippi’s statewide AI initiative, connecting institutions, communities, and partners while providing AI training, adoption guidance, governance support, use-case planning, and implementation pathways.
What is MAIN?
The Mississippi Artificial Intelligence Network (MAIN) is Mississippi’s statewide AI initiative and the first of its kind in the nation. Led by Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, MAIN brings together education, government, industry, and community partners to advance AI education, workforce development, responsible AI adoption, statewide innovation, and practical AI implementation.

Our Goals
- MAIN continues to provide statewide leadership in addressing AI and workforce needs for the State of Mississippi.
- MAIN has helped establish AI-ready labs at all 23 of Mississippi’s public colleges and universities, including all 15 community colleges and all 8 universities. Furthermore, the network continues to attract and grow innovative AI and advanced technology industries and employers.
- By meeting the AI education and workforce training needs of K-12, community and technical colleges, universities, state agencies, and the business and industry sectors of Mississippi, MAIN ensures continued progress.
Our Partners
MAIN’s reach has expanded to encompass a diverse array of public and private entities across Mississippi. Notable members include all 15 community colleges, all 8 public universities, private institutions such as Belhaven University, Millsaps College, Tougaloo College, William Carey University, and Mississippi Christian University, the Mississippi Department of Information Technology Services (ITS), the Mississippi Cyber Initiative (MCI), the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE), the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL), the Mississippi Community College Board (MCCB), the Mississippi Business Alliance (MSBA), and many more. These partnerships play a vital role in advancing AI education, training, and awareness statewide.
