Dr. Kollin Napier, Director of the Mississippi Artificial Intelligence Network (MAIN), has been honored with the Hugh I. Peck Research Award from the Program of Research and Evaluation for Public Schools (PREPS). This award recognizes individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to educational research and development, honoring efforts that enhance educational practices and improve outcomes for students and educators alike.
This recognition highlights the impact of MAIN—the nation’s first and only statewide AI initiative—in expanding AI education, awareness, and training for K-12 educators across Mississippi. To date, more than 2,100 educators have enrolled in AI courses, gaining the skills needed to integrate AI into classrooms and prepare students for the future. Over 1,000 CEU, SEMI, and OSL credits have been awarded, reaching educators statewide—all at no cost.
The expansion of AI education in K-12 is shaping the future, ensuring that both educators and students have access to the knowledge and tools necessary for success in an evolving technological landscape. Thank you to PREPS for this incredible recognition and to everyone who continues to support the mission of advancing AI education in Mississippi. The momentum is growing, and the impact will be lasting!
