The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) has partnered with the Mississippi Artificial Intelligence Network (MAIN) to launch a pioneering statewide initiative aimed at integrating artificial intelligence into the academic and professional landscape of Mississippi. This collaboration establishes USM as a central hub for AI education, featuring a dedicated MAIN AI Lab in the Cook Library equipped with high-powered workstations for students and faculty. Through this initiative, the university is offering specialized, free courses—developed in tandem with industry leaders like Intel and Dell—that cover critical topics such as Generative AI, Applied Ethics, and AI for Cybersecurity. By fostering AI literacy and workforce training, the partnership seeks to empower the local community and ensure that Mississippi remains at the forefront of technological innovation across various industries.
