AI ethics in education will be part of an international dialogue featuring University of Mississippi professor Robert Cummings.
Cummings, executive director of the university’s Academic Innovations Group, is scheduled to join the Mind and Life Institute’s Minds, Artificial Intelligence and Ethics Dialogue in Dharamsala, India. The event brings together scholars, scientists, educators, and Buddhist teachers to discuss how artificial intelligence should be understood and used responsibly.
AI Ethics in Education
The discussion includes education as one of its core themes. For Mississippi, that focus connects directly to MAIN’s work around AI literacy, human judgment, and responsible use. As AI tools become more common in classrooms and workplaces, learners need more than access to technology. They also need reflection, context, and clear guidance.
Cummings’ participation highlights how Mississippi educators are contributing to global conversations about AI, learning, and ethics. In addition, it reinforces the importance of helping students use AI as a tool for thinking instead of a shortcut around thinking.
Why It Matters for MAIN
MAIN’s statewide approach treats AI education as both a workforce priority and a civic responsibility. Therefore, AI ethics in education matters for teachers, students, employers, and community leaders. Responsible AI adoption depends on people who can ask better questions, evaluate outputs, and understand real-world impacts.
